now what the heck is Sylt?
It's Germany's most northern island.
Just came back from spending two weeks up there. Man I love this place.
The eastshore is tidelands, on the west the open sea.
The tidelands:

On the west coast is a 20 miles sandy beach:

The landscape may best be compared to Martha's Vineyard or Cape Cod.

The first day we had lots of jelly fish on the beach. They are said to be harmless, however they still let you know if you touch them.
I turned over one of these and my index finger turned to be hypersensitive for 2-3 days.

Storm front coming up over the tidelands. Minutes later it started pouring. Seemed like more water in the sky than in the sea.

The next day, hundreds of crabs had been washed ashore. And of course the seagulls had their share. Life is ephemeral, unfortunately...

I wish I could live up there.
It is one of Germany's best places for birding. The first wind surfing school in Europe was founded here on the island in 1972.

Great pictures. I live near the northern coast in the Netherlands, the islands here look a lot like Sylt, they are all part of the same nature reserve. It attracts many, many birds.

no, these are roofed wicker beach chairs. Protects you from the wind, foldable table und foot rest integrated. Looks funny, but is extremely comfortable.

Awesome photos!! Thanks for sharing. Those storm pics are really cool, and I'd love to explore 20 miles of beach. And hey...seagulls have to eat too ya know :)

That pics makes me miss my old Seki-made pup
