Well, my attention was drawn when Vincent Prester John Prester John asked for my address!
So, when I came home yesterday I was not surprised when I saw my door mat showing a bulge, the tracking had warned me.

Among the usual mail, I focused on a fat, quite heavy yellow bubble mailer.

I rushed to open the parcel , after all, bills can wait, they're more common. 😊 I had no idea of what was inside.
A picture is worth 1000 words!

A tin box containing a pristine Hartshead and accessories, plus a rare quarter !
Also a Texas map postcard with very friendly words and an appropriate Paschal prayer .

Merci beaucoup Vince pour la superbe surprise! 😊

You are very welcome, my friend. These barlows are wonderful, and I have one in rosewood gifted to me by Modoc ED Modoc ED . Thought I would share the joy.

I don't think the quarter is rare. A couple of decades ago our government started minting quarters with different designs on the back, at first honoring the fifty states, with five states being honored per year. They have kept up with commemorative designs, and this one is from 2015. I love the "British Surrender 1777"! (Sorry, Jack--nothing personal! ;)).

Thank you for the update on the quarter. I had seen some with States, but never this one !
The knife started working early this morning and was up to the job ! 😋

The blade etching too is very nice, finely detailed and a pleasure to rub !
That on the bolster reminds me of the AJS logo. Same class !

Last but not least, this is my third stag handled knife (not counting a smooth one) !

Congratulations Alain, good point about the A.J.S. logo :) Nice to see your well-travelled Hartshead Barlow put to work :)

Very generous Vince, that must have been a lovely surprise for Alain, well done :)

I have one mate! :D

My dad told me that when he was doing his Army training, they were shown a hopeless military situation, and asked what they should do. Rather cluelessly, he volunteered "Surrender, sir!"
The pompous officer, loudly bellowed, "Surrender?! The British Army never surrenders!! Withdraw, man, withdraw!!" 🤣

Good to hear good things about two gents who merit respect

Good job it wasn't sent here....yeah it would've arrived in the country in a few days, even from a wilderness like Texas .:D but would've taken eight months to get delivered inside the country, correction, nothing is delivered, you have to go and fetch it
