Some bright news for once, but with a dark background -
Prophecy, Karma, and a Buddhist Icon in Glendale
Tibetan sacred art has taken a beating, along with Tibetans, in the homeland, and Tibetan exiles are doing their level best to rebuild and maintain their culture, from the south slope of the Himalayas to North America. In my neighborhood, "a master Tibetan artist and his staff are using the ancient blueprint in Glendale to build the first three-dimensional mandala in the United States."

Besides preserving and building religious and cultural heritage, the people doing this are using the project as a means of "peace training" for local gang kids.
