Well, I've owned a surge for a year or two now. didn't really do much with it because I never trusted the sheath to hold what I needed. So my buddy got me a wave for my birthday last year and I had a pocket clip which I had gotten for the surge, which fits it poorly I might add, and threw it on the wave. Been carrying that in my pocket ever since. Well the other day I was thinking about the surge as I've been using it around the house lately, and I got to thinking about a thread I happened upon in the multi tool.org forums. How someone had said they noticed two styles of the leather/nylon combo sheaths. they had stated that they saw one with elastic side loops (like my surge) and one with cordura loops (like my ST300). Quickly switched sheaths and now it's perfect. Carried and used it a lot yesterday. I carry my surge, one bit kit card, a stream light micro stream, the plastic sleeve wwith the file and a Bosch hacksaw blade and the bit extender. So now I don't have to worry about losing my surge!

The Surge is a great multi-tool. I used to EDC one (I'm a firm believer that a multitool MUST have an awl), but it got too bulky. It now resides in my car, along with Leatherman's bit kit.

I had a Surge and eventually traded it. I loved it, but the handles were too rough on my hands without gloves. I traded for a SuperTool 300 later, and it's just about perfect for my needs. I still miss that surge and all it's cool bits in the kit, but I'm bonding with the ST300 more & more with every use. :)
