Received an interesting email yesterday regarding the bankruptcy of Front Sight in Pharumph, NV.

For those of you who were members of Front Sight and may not have received it, here it is:

"Monday, December 5, 2022

Dear xxxxxx,,

After going through US Bankruptcy Court, PrairieFire has completed its acquisition of Front Sight. The facility is now under completely new management and ownership.

As a legacy Front Sight member, we at PrairieFire Nevada are excited to welcome you, share our vision, and discuss our plans for your new Home for American Shooting.

The Front Sight facility in Pahrump, NV remains open today as we begin our four-month transition plan. During this transition period, the pre-existing training classes will continue for all legacy Front Sight members under the recent fee structure and online scheduling. Sign up today at myfrontsight.com.

We will formally launch the PrairieFire Nevada brand at our Grand Opening in mid-April 2023. We will unveil our three core offerings and open the membership program at that time. As a legacy Front Sight member, we will be offering you a new PrairieFire Frontier membership at no cost for two years.

PrairieFire Nevada will center around world-class training, with the exclusive Q Academy curriculum, thrilling Specialty Shooting Experiences, designed by elite military veterans, and a friendly Competition Series open to all levels of shooters. Early next year we will share more details on our programs, membership plans, and how you can enjoy many other benefits.

Until then, we encourage you to learn more here.

We are building the new Home for American Shooting. This home is for you, our valued members.

Sincerely,

The PrairieFire Nevada Team"

PS: I looked at my old Front Site account and I don't see any current courses offered there. So, looks like any changes will have to wait til April 2023 when Prairie Fire says it plans to begin operation as a new entity.

You can upgrade your already paid-for lifetime membership for unlimited free training to a two year membership. Can you still attend time-share presentations?

Some people really got fleeced . . .

Me?

I just paid for one of those $25 or $50 "Lifetime Memberships" (forget exactly what they were called and how much I spent, but it wasn't much) that fully paid members were selling all over the Net to try to recoup some of their expenses which (as I recall) cost $1,000's starting at the low end and $10's of thousands at the other end.

Somehow they "upgraded" my "Lifetime Membership" to a "Legacy Membership." Have no idea how or why. Probably as a way for PrairieFire to entice old "members" to use the facility again. In any event, I'll be interested to see what (if anything) that entitles me to when PrarieFire gets going.

I put some money into FrontSight, but also feel like I got my money’s worth out of it. A bunch of buddies and I used to spend a few weekends out there each year; it was lots of fun. I also managed to get some new shooters out there, and they really enjoyed themselves.

But yeah, some folks bought in heavy and really got fleeced. I feel bad for them. The legal correspondence made it sound like they had some form of redress from the bankruptcy settlement, but I wasn’t in nearly deep enough to make it worth my time.

I had mostly great experiences, but the course quality started to noticeably decline in 2020 and the frequency of interesting courses began declining even before then. Early last spring I took a course and it was bad enough that I left after the first day.

It’s interesting that Prarie Fire is already talking about making it into a “resort destination.” Hmmmm…where have I heard that before?

If/when it becomes fully functional, I’ll probably join my old buddies for the ‘complimentary’ visit to Prarie Fire. Maybe it’ll surprise me, but I’m willing to bet it’ll be my last visit to Pahrump.
