Hi Guys

Newbie here and I have a question about this knife. Slip joint that reminds me of the old timer slip joint but instead says frontier on it, Tang stamp has serial # 4134 and underneath says imperial, the opposite side just says frontier. My camera is not good enough to show markings on blade. Any info on this and possible value would be appreciated

Frontier powderhorn series knives were fairly low end, but of usable quality. I have a couple 4134s myself (same knife, different handles). One is well made, the other has F&F issues. Mine say USA under the model number, so I'd guess that yours was made in Ireland. IIRC the USA made ones were actually made by Schrade. Value? Well, forum rules don't allow values to asked/given if the member isn't a paying subscriber. But I will say that they're not worth much. They're very common, weren't expensive when made. Nor do they have much of a collector base, like Schrade or Case. You can get a perfect condition one off eBay for $30-35. The print on the boxes for mine are copyrighted 1975. I don't know if the Ireland ones were made before or after the USA ones. My vague guess on the age of yours would be sometime in the '70s.

The guys down in the Schrade Collectors sub-forum can give you a date range and more information. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php/732-Schrade-Knives-Collectors-Forum

Sure would help if you could post better photos, especially the tang stamps, pins, and shield. Do you have a flatbed scanner by any chance?

My only Frontier knives were made in Ireland just before Schrade went bankrupt. They cost about $2 each, and the quality of those is very low. But yours appears to be an older knife with carbon steel blades and could have nothing at all in common with mine. Difficult to say though without some reasonable pictures.

Good Luck!
