I think I bought this in the mid 1980s in a hardware store. It was in a Schrade display along with a few similar knives of different sizes. This one measures 3" closed. I think the display was all the knives they had in these models, because the one I bought had to be unwired from the display. On one side of the tang is stamped

FRONTIER
U.S.A.

and on the other side

P-I
IMPERIAL
STAINLESS

The locking mechanism seems to be similar to that of the Buck 110. The fit and finish is practically perfect. The handle appears to be inlaid with walnut.
I think I paid about $35 for it new, and it has been worth it. I thought I had lost it, but my wife found it today inside a first aid kit.

These 1982 Imperial factory flyers show your knife and give a bit of detail.

these knives seem somewhat akin to Schrade 3rd Gens, an upscale, dressy well made knife. look very collectible to me ! roland

I got the small one about a month ago for 3 bucks
I think it's the P-II
I have to check after I find it
The wood on one side looks like it was wet and got kinda warped
I'm guessing it is glued on?
It seems pretty sturdily built

Wow, those look nice.

I bought a couple of the Irish-made Frontier knives on closeout when Schrade went BK. Despite having the same brand name, the Irish knives are complete junk...

In 83 they added 2 more knives to the mix. Im thinking Camillus made these:-)
