Granted I don't usually watch TV, but being in Chattanooga away from home I don't have much else aside from my phone and kindle fire. Woke up this morning and frost Cutlery was advertising their "business in a box" for $248. Apparently 1700-1900 worth of "knives". Free shipping. You should order 2 or more!

They even bragged about using 3cr steel... USA on some of the handles displayed proudly. Talking about how they were such great knives, such great values.

I laughed and wondered how many people were going to get scammed out of 250 bucks on junk as I put my Ritter and 0801ti in my pockets, and grabbed my travel case of knives (you think I'm going to leave a few grand worth of knives in my hotel room??) to go to work.

They even looked junky on TV...

I haven't really watched TV in years... I hate commercials, and I have Netflix, Hulu, prime, disney+... And stacks of blurays and dvds. Really need to build some shelves...

Years ago we would get their show on our local cable network. It was broadcast around 5AM and I would watch it for amusement while getting ready for work.
But unfortunately I missed the show where the big sword broke and poked the guy in the belly (video is all over youtube).

It's a big box of junk, but I've seen guys selling them at flea markets.

I see them on Cutlery Corner Tv. People at the local flea market have them for sale. They do make nice "throw away" knives, especially the fixed blades. Plus, Frost gets a lot of people interested in the knife hobby. It did me as a kid.

Once upon a time back in the 1900’s, I bought the 200 knives for $200 Frost deal. I sold the sword and xl fixed blades to a pawn shop and enough to people around school to break even and make a few dollars. And ended up giving the rest away.

That's a good point and reminded me of a time when I was in college and couldn't afford expensive knives.

There was no Internet , so I would buy Frost knives from a catalog. $30 would usually get me about 3 or 4 knives.

If you are still in Tennessee you should try to visit the Smokey Mountains Knife Works; it is one of the biggest knife stores in the US and it carries just about everything from every major production brand? Hopefully they have been able to reopen after Covid-19. It is the only place where I have seen customers shopping for knives with shopping carts. When I was last there they had the entire line up from Spyderco, WE, ZT, Cold Steel, Leatherman, and hundreds of others.

Touristy, expect to pay full retail, but loads of fun.

I've been wanting to go, and I have ordered from them before. Just haven't been close enough yet. I'm in Chattanooga, so still a few good hours from Sevierville. Maybe one of these days I'll be sent there to work and can check it out, and it will be bad for my bank account!

Ahhh that takes me back ...

I work 3rd shift so I've seen the show many times during break and lunch during the middle of the night over the years. I still get a kick out of that show for some reason. That show is like a 80s horror movie, it's so bad, it's good.

Visit KnivesShipFree while you are in Chatt. Worth the time, but you need to look at their web site for what knives you might want to look at as they don't have that much on display in their small store front. Basically you ask to see certain knives and they go get them and bring them to you. You can always swing up to Frost Cutlery just up the road. But yes, Frost has been selling on TV for years.

I may run by ksf, about 30 minutes from where I am. Been wanting to add a standard Griptilian to go with my G10 one. Might as well grab one while I'm in the area!

Special trips to Sevierville TN and the knife store definitely takes some effort (and time) from Chatt. I visit the SMN Park a good bit and swing by there from time to time. Always fun to see all the stuff.

It's not a scam, they're just upselling.

Plenty of people buy these and make some extra money on the side selling them to average Joe's who just don't care or want a disposable knife.

I had a lot of this junk as a teenager, and yes it's junk but it works.
I only became unhappy with this stuff when someone with in interest in knives of quality told me it was junk.
It never folded on me or fell apart in my hands as if it was made of Lego, and it could be sharpened.
They fall apart slowly in my experience, you just notice ( or don't notice) a screw missing here and there till it eventually becomes too loose then you just toss it and grab another.
