Just ordered a Frost Steel Warrior Buck Skinner w/ Deer Stag Handle (fixed blade),from SMKW. Probably should have asked for opinions before purchasing, but for whatever reasons i kept going back to that model. I know... you get what you pay for. But on that note I've purchased Case folders that i was very disappointed with upon delivery. So good or bad any info from owners much appreciated.

Frost cutlery (not the Scandinavian co.) is usually asocciated with junk. Made in China, cheap steel, etc. There are exceptions, I hope you have good luck with yours.

Now, I'm not going to start any kind of crazy troll battlefield here but....aren't these the same guys who do those tv knife shows? The same company that has pretty much the worst knives ever created? A friend of mine ordered like 50 Delta Rangers off of that show and gave them to me as a joke one year. I'm almost positive that the liner lock on that knife is made out of tinfoil.....ok not really, but its damn close.

my first knife ever was a frost cutlery.. and lets just say it sits ontop of my tv to remind me to NEVER BUY FROST again

FWIW I have heard some decent things about the Steel Warrior line. No one says that they are great knives, but for what they are, they are OK.

For example Mike Latham of Collectorknives.net has this to say:
I am not big on Chinese made knives, but they have made huge strides in quality over the last 5-10 years. These Steel Warrior Knives will never be collectible in my opinion; but are a very high quality 440SS product on a price level that just is not being met inside the USA currently.

Frost Cutlery isn't really the best, Even price considered there are much better options out there like Byrd Knives and the Ka-Bar Dozier series. Even the opinel knife would be a much better choice then any frost cutlery and they are in the 10$ range.

Love Opinels myself. I've got the no. 6 in my pocket right now.

As per Frost Cutlery, definitely not to be confused with Frosts, the aforementioned Swedish blades that are inexpensive but pretty good.

When you get it, try it out and if you think it's worth what you paid for it, then you did good.:) Let us know.

Frost is not known for high quality blades, that being said, I have a blue bone sowbelly stockman that is actuall pretty nice.

The first thing I did was hit the whole outside with a file and sandpaper, then polished it up. Then I took time to sharpen each blade and they came up fine.

Not my first choice, but I would have no problem carrying it in the woods.

When i buy cheap China knives i buy from companies i like and want to succeed. Also i know they are good quality.Buck,Spyderco,Benchmade,Ect..I like the Rough Riders because they have so many old school patterns. Those Steel Warriors i've heard are good Quality. That TV stuff is garbage.I still watch ole Tom Odell sometimes secretly hoping someone will break a junk knife and get cut...again...(see video floating around here someplace.)

Ever see the Cautionary Tales of Swords episode where they spoof that shattering $50 katana vid? Pricless! :D

i have a frost cutlery pocket knife that i found a few years ago. i would not buy one when comparable and better knives are available for the same price.

When they sell 298 knives for $329.00 on TV and include 3 "Bowie" knives, what do you think you are going to get?

If it does what you need it to do and holds a good edge, it doesn't matter what you paid.
Don't be put off by it just because it says 440SS. If it's tempered right, 440 is good stuff.
Most of the problem with Frost is their lack of any consistent quality. They've got one or two good designs (with bad materials) and I'd love to have some of their three blade pocket knives...but not with the materials they use in them (steelwise).

My current favorite pocket knives of the old frame persuasion are either Kissing Crane or German Eye. Case just hasn't been right since they switched to that sorry ass "Surgical Steel" foolishness. You can still order some good steel from them, but you have to look carefully. Most of the stuff they have these days is crap.
