Frost Cutlery

I wouldn't buy one ! I sharpened one for a friend and it was the biggest piece of crap iv ever seen . I got it very sharp and it was useless after one or two cuts through a cardboard box ! As for collector value , they are worthless.

They are not very collectable at all, although there are people who actually do collect them. They're not very good quality, but Frost works for the general public. They are decent hard use knives. There's a thread about this in the traditional section. You should check it out.

Their Steel Warriors are supposed to be decent for the money(I've only handled a few and can't really vouch for the quality) but IMO the rest of their knives are pretty much bottom of the barrel stuff with little to no collector value.

IMO, Rough Rider makes better knives for the money. But to each his own. Also, if you're low on cash, you could get a Case with brown derlin handles. Or you could get a Sodbuster.

If your lookin' to collect for investment, don't. Especially Frost cutlery knives, if your lookin' to collect for collectin's sake than look at the older late 70s to 80s knives or the Parker Frost knives that were made for only a couple of years.

I had a few older Frost Cutlery knives and they are users but the quality of the older knives was great, F&F were great.

The newer knives are made in Taiwan if your lucky and Chinese if your not, keep this in mind collect what ya like, 'cause collectin' for investment is like playin' the Lottery, if your lucky, the few dollars ya spent on a Frost Cutlery knife might be worth what ya payed for it if ya never touch it.

I just went on their web site and I'm not gonna trash their knives 'cause they have a market too but I wouldn't buy 'em, I'd rather hunt down older USA made traditionals at yard sales and flea markets, you can still find good deals on vintage good quality knives.

Bottom line, what you collect is determined by what you want to ultimately do with your collection, display it, use it or resell it.

Me I'm more accumulator than collector. ;)

I believe all of their knives are made in China now. In the past, they were made in places like Taiwan and Japan.

I don't feel they are collectable. But people collect all kinds of things that I would never consider.

Are they good knives? They are very average knives overall to below average. Are they equal to Case? No. There may be a few gems (in terms of value) in their line. I think you should look closely at some of the Frost knives and make up your own mind. It all depends on your perspective as a buyer as to cost versus value and how much you might use a knife. I suspect since they are generally low priced knives, that they are a good value for the price. But there are so many better made knives. I would rather spend more in general for what I feel is a better knife overall.

Go with Rough Rider pocketknives if you want to collect inexpensive folders for use & for fun. Very well-made with good blades in the $6-15 range.

Stay away from Frost Cutlery.

I've used a frost as a beater for about 10 years, that's a knife i'll let someone borrow because it cost me 5 dollars. IMHO they're not very good at all, no name steels, bad materials, usually some sort of knock off design you can get way better, if you're short on funds you could even hit up your local Wally World (Wal-Mart) and pick up a Buck 110 or the Wal-Mart model of the CRKT Ripple.

If you go to any knife show and you see a box full of knives that says "$5 each" its a frost.
