While channel surfing this evening I saw a "opportunity of a lifetime" on HSN. They were selling 131 knives by Frost cutlery for $169 plus shipping. There were Spyderco ripoffs, SAK knockoffs, and even a SOG knockoff called the "Tomcat". My favorite was the ugly "boowie" knife that the host described as "Just like a Randall, only for $1.29." It was interesting to see the way they were describing unabashed garbage as comparable to quality knives.

The scariest part was that they said there had already been over 2,000 orders for this great value.:barf:

Apparently there will be an hour long Fathers Day cutlery special tonight at 10. This is the kind of thing knifenut nightmares are made of.

Just like a Randall for only $1.29. Wow! You mean all these years I have been paying way too much for my knives? Damn!

All those show's lost something when Don West left:). The best is when somebody tries to chop something and the blade breaks, or they when they cut paper, and wind up slicing their fingers:).

Order now people, order NOW:D:)!!!!

Almost forgot the revolving "Lazy Susan" knife wheel they had, classic:).

Right now I see the guy selling a ripoff CRKT Mirage. Why would you make a knockoff of a $15 knife?

I'm surprised that this is even legal. If it's not legal I'm surprised that the reputable makers haven't had these guys deported to Pakistan with all their crappy cutlery.

Who buys this junk? This isn't like buying a $2 folder at a gas station. You have to actually seek out and then call for these knives. For close to 200 bucks you could get some high quality pieces that would humiliate any of these things where they send you 25 of the same knife in a crate.

I watched that "collectible knives for Dad" show for about....five minutes.

Back when I first started getting into knife collecting, I would see those knives and would think to myself, "wow, what a great price". Everything changed once I ordered a "hunter's combo" that was advertised for $20 bucks. Cheap steel, made in Pakistan I believe, and very cheap looking in person.

Yes, I made that mistake ONCE. Never again, and I'm always advising my friends and co-workers to not even bother with those crappy shows. IMHO, they should be taken off the air for selling that junk.
