hello !!!
could you explain to me how do you reduce frost bottle propane of your gas forge ??? I can't forge a long time (good for arms but not for knives !!!!)
thank you !

Use a washtub full of water. Put the bottle in it and weight it down. I use bungi cords. This is a must to get all the propane from your bottle.

Do you mean your propane bottle freezes up or gets frost on the outside as it empties? If yes, I remember Wayne Goddard writing that he keeps the bottle warm by setting it in an old cut down water heater (used as a tub) with warm water around it.

A tie!

The tub of warm water is the only thing I know that would be a temp fix. The ultimate fix is to get a larger propane tank. Propane "boils" off at a given rate for the size of the container holding it, the larger the tank, the more propane can "boil off" without the bottle freezing up.

I've never had this problem. Does it only happen when it's cold outside, or does it matter? I'm using a regular gas grill tank for my gas.

It hapens whether it's hot or not to me, I have two 5 gallon bottles, and switch up, when the bottles are real low, I have some old syrupe tubs that I put the bottles in with warm watter.

When I can afford it I'm going to a 25 gallon tank, and when I set up a permanent shop, I plan on renting a 300+ gallon tank and let the company deliver it.

Also, the higher the psi you use, the faster the freez-up. The only time I have a problem is when welding damascus.

hello !
my problem was my bottle freeze up, but temperature in my workshop isn't very hight (~10°c!!!)and it was the "end" of my bottle !
thank you for your answers !!!!

If its that cold, you might want to get some thin copper pipe, and run it from the tank, into a coil along the forge near the opening or anywhere that it can pick up some heat, and then back into the tub. Might need a small pump to circulate it also. Copper is pretty good for conducting heat and is easy enough to bend around. At least over here you can get it from the local hardware store pretty easily too.
