Frost's Scaling knives - spoon handle?

I think the spoon is used to scoop out the guts once the fish has been scaled. Some people like to grill their fish whole, so they just scale and gut them. I guess they don't mind picking bones out of their food..

This knife actually has a scaling edge on the top spine. Sounds like the spoony handle might be a good thing to have, wouldn't hurt if you don't use it. Thanks. I'm thinking of picking up a fish knife for a guy who currently uses an old kitchen knife with no sheath. Sounds like the Frosts will fit the bill.
