Mineral Mountain Hatchet Works/Western W49 Bowie. As I understand it, MMHW acquired this (and perhaps others) Western W49 blade blank of 1095 steel and turned it into a finished knife, though the brass guard was added by another maker. Handles are polished black micarta with brass pins and lanyard hole. The knife wears both an MMHW stamp, and a Western W49 stamp.
After receiving the knife, I made some modifications as follows:
I ground the clip portion of the blade so that it now has what could be considered a false edge to semi sharp (30 degrees per side). Originally, the clip did taper slightly, perhaps to 1/2 the stock thickness. The clip was painstakingly filed down by hand, and both sides taper evenly to the edge from the start of the clip through the tip. This was done to aid in penetration, as well as to provide a secondary thicker edge for "other" work. I originally purchased this knife to use for boar hunting, so the mods made were done with that in mind.
The guard was also filed down to be of a more manageable size. I took off roughly ½” top and bottom and rounded it, as the ends were originally more pointed. After the work was done, the original patchy (and now even more so) Parkerizing was blasted off and the knife was cold blued to provide some resistance to corrosion. The guard was blasted as well.
The kydex sheath is from MMHW, but has since been converted to a drop leg style with quick-release buckle (the knife seemed too large to comfortably carry as high on the belt as the sheath was originally designed to do). Belt loop is adjustable for up to a 2.25" belt. Blade retention was also added as the original sheath did not provide enough if it were to be inverted, though otherwise it is well formed to the knife and well made/finished overall.
Knife is 14.5" overall, 9.25" blade (tip to guard), 5.25" handle, thickness between 5/32" and 3/16".
Price is $Traded shipped. Pay by Paypal or MO.

I'm only selling because I don't need more than one large fixed blade, and I have since acquired a Marbles Ideal 8" with full guard that is more to my liking.
