Up for sale is this modified Imacasa model 730. Work on this model included:
~Trimming the handle
~Rounding the spine
~Extending the edge to the base of the blade
~Hollowing tip
~Sharpening hollow tip
~Sharpening partial back edge
~Convexing of all edges
~Polishing of all edges
All edges are ground nice and thin to make quick work of wood and foliage, as well as facilitate knife-like usage. The sharpened back edge allows the piece to be swung back and forth to cut a broad swath through densely-packed grasses or scrub. The hollowed tip is designed to be used for limbing, stripping bark, making fuzz sticks, and pushing branches/brambles/cut material out of the way.
After cutting saplings for poles the limbs may be quickly and easily removed by holding the machete in an icepick grip and running the tip downwards along the side of the trunk. A fuzz stick is rapidly produced by using the tip much like a push chisel.
Those familiar with vintage machetes will notice that the handle of this model is based on the old Collins pieces with the stacked leather handles. It's very comfortable and facilitates a variety of grips well.
Steel: 1075 High Carbon
Handle: Injection-molded Polypropylene
Blade Length: 18"
Handle Length: 5"
Point of Balance: ~7" Forward of Handle
Asking $40 Plus Shipping--I accept payment via PayPal, money order, or personal check. If paying by PayPal don't worry about compensating for processing fees--that's on my bill, not yours. Item typically ships same or next business day that payment is received, so if paying by check or money order please allow time for funds to make it to me.
Now that the boring stuff is out of the way, how about some pictures?
