Up for grabs is this new Martindale heavy bolo, modified by yours truly. Modifications include:
~Dropping the point so it's more inline with the arm (useful for drilling or cuts with the tip)
~Re-profiling the point to make it more acute
~Flushing the scales to the tang
~Fully rounding the spine for comfort when draw-knifing and to keep it from chewing up a baton
~Extending the edge all the way to the base of the blade
~Thinning the edge bevel
~Convexing and polishing the edge
This piece is one of the more expensive Martindale models and it's no wonder why--the thing is thick at the spine with a flat grind and STRONG distal taper, which you can see in the below images. In its stock format it strongly resembles a smaller version of the WWI British Army bolo in my collection.
In its new state this machete is much faster in the hand, though it still packs a good punch! It handles much more like a knife now than a cleaver, however, so it would make for an excellent all-'rounder for both chopping and more knife-like cutting tasks. Makes great fuzz sticks too!
Asking $50 plus shipping I accept PayPal, checks, or money orders. If paying by PayPal I do NOT ask for you to cover the PayPal fees--those are on my bill, not yours. SOLD Thanks for looking, folks!
