Used Rick Hinderer production XM-18. I sent this back to the Hinderer ranch to have the detent strengthened ($50), while it was there I bought the carbon fiber scale ($100) and it came back with it on (I gifted the original red one). As a result it flips better and the blade stays shut better than before. It is one of the smoothest knives I've handled and it locks up solid. It comes in the box marked "3.5 red flipper".

It is centered when closed and locks at 50%.

Are you sure the SMF stop pin contacts both sides?
According to Strider, it is only supposed to contact the titanium side. The G-10 side should have a gap of about paper thickness.

meh...

i've had multiple sng's and smf's that varied in contact distances between pins and G10 scale. none of them made contact, but that is not to say that the OP's stop pin should or shouldn't. what matters is a tight lockup -- if it's got it it's got it.

i don't have any interest in this thread but i just wanted to add a little input. i've had several sng/smf of varying stop pin distance and they've all worked well. in EVERY sng/smf that i've used, eventually (from use) they've been required to be sent to strider for a larger stop pin installed (due to blade wiggle) but the tune-up they function with no issues.

According to Strider, there should be NO contact with the G-10 side, (When new)

The seller said the stop pin hits both sides, that's why I'm asking.
