It's surprising that we've got two Steel Heart offerings in as many months.

and now this:

It makes one wonder how different the 2nd Gen Ergo handle is from the Fusion handle? It would be great to have top down side-by-side shots, or at least some design notes and comments by Jerry and Co.

I was not a fan of the Ergo handle, but have ordered this 2nd Gen version. I very much like the FSH series, especially the HHFSH type and have three of them; but will probably pass on the new BG version.

I am curious about this as well.....it will probably come down to a size comparison for me. I am in for a SHE II already and have a BIG FSH so I don't know if I really need another one on the way in that size range, much less another FSH.

I got in on the INFI. BG looks good, though. Cool chance to score a top design.

Both are awesome!!! But that fusion handle design is just so so sexy. One of my favorite blades ever...

I think that's the thing for a lot of us on something resembling a budget. There are certain Busse blades that are iconic, such as the Steel Heart and Battle Mistress. Having them available in Battle Grade makes previously unreachable 'grail' blades accessible, which is an outstanding move by Jerry and his crew.

Good points resinguy and thanks for the photos.

Is the SHE blade length 7.5" vs. 8.0" for the FSH? I assume the FSH will be similar to the NMFSH except one inch shorter and non-FI?

Guess it all comes down to handle shape and blade material. I didn't love the NMFSH -- handle too hefty for my smallish mitts and the knife seemed heavy for its length, especially relative to other great choppers, such as the ASHBM or CGFBM. That said, the FSH is the THE Busse of Busses. But not INFI this time -- shucks!

Anyone handled the new Ergo handle? Looks promising but wider in back than the Fusion or Straight. Better for large-handed Hogs?

Hey Res, I thought you were a thINFI guy? I'm probably wrong as usual.

Yes, thin on small blades. And not too thick on bigger ones. The HHFSH at 0.27" is just right, to me, in that size. Many Hogs like the fatties. None of the knives that are still here are over 0.3". YMMV.

Looking forward to the skinny B13!

No one outside the Shop has handled the Ergo II. My order is in and I remain hopeful that the new handle is an improvement on the original. Jerry seems quite positive! (OTOH, the EU handle was great; just bring that back :D)

Prepare for the Second Generation Steel Heart E ! ! !

With modifications made to the handle to accommodate nearly any size grip and the raising of the tip for strength and added chopping power, this 7 1/2" INFI Steel Heart will get the job done.

The added 3D contouring makes this new E handle one of the best feeling handles to ever come out of the Busse Combat Shop! The balance is, likewise, incredible!

Couple this with the redesigned blade and it is one of the best looking knives we have made as well!

The only bad thing to say about it is that it is nearly impossible to put down!

I took the prototype with me at night and just kept picking it up and putting it down constantly while watching TV with the family.

Ate breakfast with it at the table in the morning where I swear it snuck at least three strips of bacon off of my plate!!!

Drove with it in hand nearly the entire way to work and then took it into my office where I continued to constantly pick it up and put it down.

I know that you have never heard me go on and on about how great a particular knife feels, but this is exceptional!

I nervously look forward to seeing what kind of deal Watson comes up with on this model. . . .:eek:

Here are some straight down pics as well as a CAD drawing overlay showing the Original SHE vs. Second Generation SHE

The difference between these two models is remarkable!:thumbup:

On the Original SHE we used 1/4" thick handle slabs that were nearly flat with a slight dome shape.

On the Second Generation SHE we use 3/8" thick handle slabs that are nicely contoured with a really comfortable palm swell and a much narrower back end that fits the hand a lot better. . .

It is MUCH more comfortable!

My oh my what a difference nearly 15 years has made in design and construction!!!

SHE's a beauty!

I'm right there with you --- I have 2 on order -- one with canvas micarta and the other with Black/Tan g10 --- I really do think this one will be the 7 inch equivalent of the HHFSH. I hope I'm not wrong!
