I recently picked up another BM530. Over the years, this has been none of my favorite BMs and a favorite Axis Lock model too. I got to thinking that a 4" blade version of this knife would be great. It would be super thin, light, and have a full size blade. Anybody else think that would be a good idea?

I would most definitely be in for one. Where do I sign up?
The 530 really appeals to me, as did the 350, but I find them both a bit small.

Herr_Noobien, I have 2 BM 530s (one in 440C and one in 154CM), and I absolutely love them! They're one of the few Benchmade models out there that I like (the 800, 970, 710, and 730 series being the only others). They are pretty much folding 'boot knives,' so if that style appeals to you, you'll like 'em. They are extremely lightweight and thin. The handles aren't what I'd consider the strongest, and the grip isn't very ergonomic, but they work just fine for daily tasks. They have very thin blades, which make them great slicers, and the spear-point shape works very well for almost any task.

One of the reasons I got both of them was to compare Benchmade's 440C to their 154CM, and since everything else about them is identical, I figured it'd be a great way to do so. To be honest, I haven't noticed any difference whatsoever between the performance of the blade steels on the knives. Both knives sharpen up very easily and both take a very sharp edge. I also really like having the Axis lock available in such a lightweight knife. I'd have to say that the BM 530 is a 'sleeper' in the knife world. It is most likely the strongest folder available in its weight class!

I've been EDCing my 530 for the past 4 years now and it's never let me down. I would love a slightly larger version, especially if they beefed up the frame just a tad so you didn't need to be as sensitive with the tension of the screws. :)

I use this knife explicity for IWB carry on shorts and beltless pants. Very, very light, thin and comfortable. Attracts no attention at all, steel is great, works like a charm for me.

How about a review on the one you have? I've been thinking of picking one up.

I agree with everyone else says. They are super thin and light. The blade is a great slicer and nice general utility knife. I love the faux dagger/boot knife design. My other favorite pocket knife, the Native, also has that false dagger shaped blade, but in a more chunky version.

A 4" version would simply give me a whole lot more of everything I like about this knife.

I too am a fan of the BM 530, great little slicer. I keep mine sharpened at the lowest angle I can get without removing the thumb studs. I also have it in 440C and 154CM and much prefer the latter, it takes a finer, crisper edge with less work and holds it noticeably longer. I'm not sure how well this knife would scale up in size but I would definitely give one a try :D

I have the BM530 and like it a s a great EDC. I would like to see the handle in G10. This is a very light and slim knife with a razor edge plus the wonderful Axis lock. Mine is 154CM and is an excellent cutter and slicer. It carries so well, especially in sweats and sweat shorts. It is a great waist band carry and is practically invisble that way covered up by my T Shirt.

I always thought of the 350 as a small AF folder. I too would like to see a 4" blade with .90" liners and ground from .160" blade stock.
