Wow, my time here at Bladeforums has hit a milestone. I joined here because I was looking for a Cold Steel Ozark Hunter. Since the time I joined, I have not found one. I have gotten the inspiration for the Ozark Hunter, the Remington lockback hunter repro made by Camillus in 1984. I picked up several Mountain Man models, both lockbacks and slipjoints, made by Queen. The Northfield 23 single blade slipjoint was a great homage to the Remington pattern. During all that time, still haven't gotten the OH, almost pulling the trigger on a Ohta Remington I could in no way afford.

I finally found one. One of our members had one for sale in the Exchange. Delrin, carbon v and Camillus made? Yes I am excited! I will be posting a giveaway when the knife gets here, but I would like to see pics of those knives that you have been on the hunt for. Maybe not your grail, but the one that gnaws at you, that you can't quite shake.

I have a knife that has been driving me crazy for years. It was a Puukko sold by Brookstone( now gone I believe) with a different shaped handle. I kicked myself many times for not getting one way back in the day( 1970's or so). Knarfeng has one and has posted pics of his a couple of times. I almost popped when I,saw it!
It is a Tapio Wirkkala design manufactured by Hackman:

Yes, and congrats on getting that one, I smiled when I read the post in the exchange...always cool when a Knut finds a grail knife:thumbup:

RAT Stockman in sheep horn with punch. I really want to put that one in my pocket some day. The rat splitter is a great knife itself, but was always intrigued by its little brother.

I really want a stockman. I can't shake the need for one. Perhaps a CV Sambar Stag would help...
:D

Good score, man. I've got the Remington labelled version.
I dare say the covers on yours are black. The good thing about the gadawful covers on mine is that I will always be able to find it. Covers or no, it is one of my favorite knives. Which brings me back full circle. Congrats!

Actually think it was 1960s. I was too young to be smart. It was dumb luck that I grabbed one.

I think the Whaler, and the Rough Neck from GEC for some reason. I am not one who knows enough about old knives to buy those with any confidence.

There are a lot of knives that I can't shake, even when I know they would get no use what so ever!

I wouldn't say that I'm on the hunt for this knife because the maker is still working. My main problem at the moment is budgetary in nature. Then again I have the sinking feeling that this knife is bespoke and he would be reluctant to make another like it. Perhaps the biggest issue is that even if the maker was willing to make another like it his efforts would be unsuccessful. Everything just comes together so beautifully, I don't know if it would be possible to replicate. Its lines and proportions, exhibition stag, fine damascus, subtle hamon, the execution of the fittings...the whole thing is as close to perfect as I can imagine.

Congratulations on your find SHS :)

I try hard not to think of all those great old Sheffield slipjoints and Bowies I could have bought for peanuts when I was younger!

Indeed as bespoke as it gets and stunning craftmanship...I would ask the maker to make the gaurd straight...Then if i had the money i would buy it!!.... FES

Case Hawbaker muskrat. I've tried a GEC furtaker trapper on the 52 frame but it wasn't quite the thing.

File under: prohibitively expensive.

Bark River Pro Scalpel CPM3V with sambar stag scales. Sigh. Just typing it makes my heart ache.

There are a handful of #53 Cuban stockmen handle materials I don't have that I'd love to add to the collection.
Grits & Molasses acrylic, Pond bone, Patriot acrylic, Good & Plenty acrylic, Caribou stag and Black stag.

Some of these are very scarce (5 or less made), but there is always hope!

At the top of the list is a Randall Made Knife, particularly the 25 Trapper. I love seeing Randalls and that model would fit my outdoor and aesthetic needs juuust right. In slipjoint land I would love to get my hands on a GEC 66 stockman in stag.
