I really enjoyed building this camp knife in premium Sambar Stag/W-2. The dovetail bolsters are quadruple pinned and soldered. The premium stag scales (which I paid dearly for) have great color and match nicely. The flat ground blade was hand rubbed to 1200 grit and etched to reveal a vivid hamon line. There is a slight recurve to the blade and the clip is sharpened. Thanks for viewing my work and your comments are welcome.

Hey TK, nice knife there. I like the overall lines quite a bit. I love the blade profile and the stag looks pretty good to me.

I do have one question, if I may. It's hard to tell from the picture as there seems to be some glare there, but what is going on with the finish on the ricasso as compared to the finish on the blade?

It looks like you may have hand rubbed and etched the blade but belt finished the ricasso? If that's the case, to my eye, it really clashes. My eye goes right there in the photo because something doesn't look quite right. The nice crisp lines of your blade grinds that you show on most of your knives seems gone here, like they're muddied up from the blending of the two finishes.

I'd like to see this blade with the same hand rubbed and etched finish on the ricasso as there is on the blade.

If it's just the light in the photo, then please disregard.

Again, I like the knife quite a bit, I was just curious about that one area. I hope you take no offense as none was meant. :)

Thanks John - glad you like it. Pretty good eye on the ricasso! Typically I hand rub the ricasso and flats to 400 grit and leave the remaining grind etched but rubbed out with Flitz.....they both match pretty well. In this case, the ricasso was buffed and along with the lighting, I believe the difference in finishes is exaggerated. I'm going back to my old way of rubbing out the flats.

No offense taken - thanks for the good input.

Love your work BTW.
