Full flat grind BK2

Has anyone done a full flat grind on one? I would love to have one flat ground and then clip the point. Has anyone done such a mod? What are some potential pros/cons to this idea? I am thinking Mr. Krein might be convinced to take on such a task and he is local. Thoughts? Even better, pics?

I think you need a BK10.

It would be cool. I'd prefer mine FFG, but that's a LOT of grinding on hardened steel. Might as well have one made fresh and bolt on some ka-bar micarta.
 
If you go to Tuffthumbz youtube channel he has a couple of videos of FFG Becker bk2s he has done and they look amazing. He also does some other mods to the knife and I believe he does custom work in his shop. I have never had any work done by him so I can't recommend him but if your looking for videos or pictures of what it would look like thats where I would look.

daizee, you might be right. As cool a project as it would be, it makes sense to go with the 10. I can have a longer swedge ground if I want (thinking more bowie style). It is only .5 inches longer, too. And after putting micarta on my BK5, it is a no-brainer. It's going on every becker I buy.
 
I thought I saw somebody do that before. Let me look around and see if I could find it.

They are actually full convex grinds not flat grinds.
 
I'm currently in the process of turning my BK2 into a FFG style blade. Here is what it looks like now:

I do everything backasswards and the hard way. I was drunk and the bench grinder was calling my name....what can I say? Don't drink and gring? Yup.... :D

From marks on the blade I thought you were doing it all by hand with a file :eek:
 
After chewing on this all night, I think the only reasonable course of action is to get both the BK2 and the BK10.

Tradewater, I heard in another thread that you were a pretty bad dude. Something about you being on Superman's pajamas. Is that true?

and then after that I saw the hot neighbor girl walk by my buddies shop, went to talk to her, she gave me a kitchen knife to sharpen, I did that, was hoping for sex but got dinner instead, and then passed the fuck out and never finished the BK2 mods. That was last summer..... :D
