i see many good replies to the zero edge thread and i have some follow up questions but did not want to change the thread.

what is the advantages/disadvantages to the full flat grind to the saber grind? lets say we have two big survival knives with 1/4" blades with the only difference being how they are ground.

The higher flat grind removes more metal making the knife lighter and raising the cutting ability. The lower grind leaves a knife that is significantly stronger laterally, a better prybar. Those are the two main issues, there are some side ones like flats are more efficient for hammering sideways.

The full flat grind is lighter, and often has a slightly more acute edge angle, but tends to get stuck in some material when being used for chopping.

thanks for the replies :)

the reason i was asking was i own a busse mr. mofo and just got me a mr. mojo. other than the mofo being alot nicer overall i just wanted to know if it was better overall.

what i do like about the full flat grind on the mojo is the asym. edge. i think it gives the chop more bite but i could be wrong.

The dual edge grind usually ran really high on one side which made the total included angle fairly acute and thus raised cutting and chopping ability.
