Full Guard Busse's

This may end up being a custom project, but have a picture in my mind of a Busse knife with 5-6" blade and full guard. My objective is a knife that will replace my Kbar.

Looking through bussecollector and badmojo websites, I didn't see any Busse models besides the TLGB line that have the full guard.

Am I missing one?

Picture is getting clearer. Was envisioning a more "bowie" like swage but I think I prefer the one on the Battle Pappy. That blade is a beast at nearly a 1/3 of an inch thick. Coffin handles really sets it apart,

So is the use of the full guard a style or functional aspect of design? I've always preferred a full guard to prevent my hand from sliding on to the blade, plus there is a small defensive aspects of the guard.

Not sure if knife design is cyclic, like a lot of things and a full guard is considered old school or classic for this day and age. Just like leisure suits and platform shoes for men, it will come back in to fashion at some point.

Team Gemini LB would have to be an option and it is still available and affordable. Not many Battle Pappy's around and your unlikely to ever see it offered again except in the secondary market.

Swamp Rat-Rodent 6 sounds to fit what you are looking for. May not be INFI, but it sure is outstanding.

I have the TGLB on order but bigger than what I'm looking for now.

CR33: I'll have to look at the Rodent 6. Little long but lines are very nice.

I've been wanting a TGLB for years. Sage/Tan Canvas... mmm.

The TGM looks hot, too.

TGM looks like a possibility but may be a little chunkier than I would like. Doesn't appear the full guard really provides any advantage other than that is what I'm accustomed to. Weight will be important for carry and speed.

A custom clip point SJTAC or BATAC with a sharpened swedge might be the answer.

I got a costum SJTAC on the exchange with a serrated swedge:thumbup:

Swamp Rat has some nice options too. The 3rd one down is a double edged Ratmandu, and the 4th one has a serrated harpoon tip. The last one down is a Rodent 4 with a semi sharpened harpoon tip.

Oohrah Gusbuster. Those are some sweet knives, particularly the double edged Ratmandu. Add some serrations and it would make for an excellent combat knife. The SJTAC with the serrated swedge is very interesting. Trying to envision the utility of having the serrations there instead of forward of the choil, but probably more about adjusting your technique.

Yours plus others I've seen on this forum are exceptional, almost too exceptional. Were are all the ones that folks have run over with their truck, found after leaving it in the woods for a few months or left in their pack after field dressing their last kill of the seaon only to find it again at the start of the new one?

Given the abuse I expect my knives to handle, particularly my field carry, I almost like ugly or plain but functional where it counts.

Team Gemini LB would be perfect! It has an inch or two more than what you are looking for but maybe once we release the TGM? Good luck with your search and let us know what you decide on :D

Thanks Pokey. I'm looking forward to getting in the TGLB CF that I ordered in late Jun. I expect for my current "itch", I'll need to reach out to Garth. Great knives out there, but unfortunately I like a piece of that one, the grind on this model and the clip point on another. It is great that you all can adapt to the dynamics of your customer base.

Lots of Marines in the house, Semper Fi![/QUOTE]

Roger that.....OOOOH RAAAAAAH...
