Full Moon vs. Moon Pie Trapper??

I was away from traditional knives for several years (financial problems and modern clip on addiction) and came back a few months ago. I've spent hours on line researching patterns, materials, companies, dealers, etc., and one question surfaced that I haven't found the answer to. That is, What is the difference between a Moonpie and Fullmoon trapper? I thought I had it narrowed down to a difference in the bolster and nick but that ended up being a red herring: There was a change from using Queen parts to in house that caused that difference but it did not correlate to the change in name. How about it fellows? Any answers to this question?

A pic of the knife in question.

Let's just say the Moonpie name was already being used by someone else who wasn't (understandably) up for sharing ;)

That darned cap sure looks like the package though, doesn't it? :D

I did see one mention of the company that makes the marshmallow filled cookies threatened to sue but assumed it was in jest. Maybe not? They should consider it good advertising. When I got mine I got the sudden urge for a moonpie and an RC.

The Moon Pie trapper is a big 'un:

While the Half Moon is a bit shorter, and as a single blade a lot slimmer too. Fits really nice in my pocket:

Nice pics! I know about these. As a matter of fact I'll be picking up a half moon soon. The "Full Moon" is the one I'm asking about and seems to be the same knife as the Moon Pie.

I thought the Moon Pie was the 2-blade and the Half Moon was single...?

...although I have no idea why they would call it a Moon Pie in the first place..... errr, what?

To keep things confused AGR calls his buffalo horned version a "Half Moon Pie Trapper".

Se that big 'ol cap bolster? Someone had mentioned that it was as big as a moonpie. They liked the name and went with it, I guess a little hastily. I just go with tradition and call it a trapper, less trouble that way.

Yeah, I know where the names come from. I try not to obsess too much but it just struck me that the same knife is listed under two different names.

Say Zippofan, is that a kudu horn trapper?

Eric

Yes it is Eric! I got the kudu horn because of the association to Scouting's Wood Badge, which I had just finished right before I bought that knife.

Nice looking knife, and good timing too! There certainly weren't many of those made.

Eric

PS- Derrick, imagine if you'd ordered the knives and got a case of snacks instead?

I see them in both names at other sites too. Even Frost has produced a cheap imported copy and called it moon pie.

Thank you Eric! CSC was the first company I discovered after Case, and I visit their site quite a bit. When I saw kudu I had to jump on it. Of all my knives, it's more a display knife than a worker though it does go to our meetings from time to time.
Using a real Kudu horn as a trumpet call is pretty cool too.
