A contractor who worked on a project of mine wanted to give me a thank you............do they make knives in your country, I said..? (Lithuania)

Thereafter, was a short dialogue with the very charming Tomas Kuciauskas.........

The quality is quite stunning - most impressive...........and by far the scariest sharpest fixed blade I've ever received.

- thank you, Tomas..! :lemo:

Yeah, they dont take kindly to that.

But I guess, they do make knives and what a beauty. Congrats, Chui.

I know your stance on (trophy) hunting, but that one screams to be used.

Just get over the initial scratches and you are good to go :-)

Very nice knife, but please immediately stop referring to Lithuania as Eastern European.

Well, pardon me, Dr Heelhook..........I have just phoned the Lithuanian guy who gifted me the knife - he said what you're saying is the first he's heard, and 'perhaps he should get his facts straight'.
(considering it's position with Poland & Belarus, it is debatable to many to call it Northern European - and, afterall, you can plainly see I was trying to give the guy a 'lift' with the title - he darned well deserves it)

Northern Europe = Scandinavia, the Baltic countries, Ireland and the United Kingdom, plain and simple.

The term "Eastern Europe" is tricky to define in general and many countries want to do away with it altogether. The current geographical definition of Eastern Europe is Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova.

Either way, Lithuania isn't in any way a part of that definition and the unfortunate fact that they were temporarily occupied by communist Russia doesn't change that neither. You'd think that the fact that European communism was thrown in the trash can 24 years ago + that Lithuania has been in the European Union since 2004 would make this more obvious, but there are still surprisingly many people who have a hard time letting go of the past.

Enough of this though, this is a knife forum. I fully understand that your intentions with the thread were nothing but good and I'm sure Tomas Kučiauskas is a great guy and obviously an excellent knife maker. Still, if you could change the title of the thread, that would be very appreciated.

Lithuania is south of the Baltic, east of Poland and west of Russia. In the 21st century, the term "eastern" can mean just a geographic location, particularly for someone under the age of 30. That's a good thing.

- thanks for the comments, guys.

This knife has impressed a lot of people, am going to ask him to make another - too good to resist.
