SR-101 is beautiful stuff, harder to work with then other steels, but can get sharper then anything else I've ever seen, I have to keep telling myself to be careful when handling it. I have a tan SOD that's almost done, got rid of the saber grind in favor of a full height convex grind, it's looking good and should be done soon.

Nice job H :) I need to see that thing in person...one of these days I'm going to get you or Nate to do mine... :D

WOW:eek: NICE WORK:thumbup:

That is drop dead gorgeous! How will you keep it from tarnishing?

What color is the dark Waki? Is it Muddy or Tanker Gray?

Mike

Thanks for the compliments everyone.

We should arrange a meet soon, it's been way overdue.

All my knives end up being users, I don't stop the elements from doing its thing, it's natural for high carbon steel to patina, etc. I think it adds character anyway, if anything gets too bad, back to the belt sander for a quick clean up.

Neither, it's Black micarta/Sage blade.

Hey MrPink, awsome blade there!!! What type of belt sander did you use? And which type of sanding belt did you use (company & grit 100-320?)?. Thanks

Indeed it has been, and now I actually have something of my own to play with :D You have my cell

Actually, my last phone broke and I wasn't able to transfer any #s, give me a call tomorrow or something.

I use a Delta SA180 1x42", upgrading to a 2x72" when I can. For this blade I mainly use 2 belts, Norton Blaze and Norton Norzon, Blaze for the heavy stuff and Norzon for everything else. Mostly from 60-120, any grit higher then that and it's mainly for polishing.

Hey MrPink, I have another question, is the disc on the belt sander even used during the satining process? Is it helpful in anyway? Please let me know. Thanks
