Hello all,

My only experience with Cold Steel so far is a couple of Pocket Bushmans that I bought long ago but ended up getting rid off. I really liked them, but I gifted one to a friend of mine and sold the other one to someone who was going to use it more than me. I may be buying another one in the future.

Right now I am after a fully serrated hawkbill folder. I really like the Spyderco Spyderhawk but it is long discontinued. I want it for cutting rope, webbing etc when climbing. Sometimes we need to clean up belay setups of old ropes to replace with new one... and I think this blade configuration will suit me well.

Does Cold Steel have anything that might fit the bill in their line of knives? I already have an Spyderco Rescue, so I am not interested in straight serrated blades. Only hawkbill shaped.

And btw... how easy/hard/impossible are Cold Steel serrations to sharpen? I own a sharpmaker which does a fair job... but if the serrations are too small, the corners of the stones just don't fit in between the grooves.

Thanks in advance!

Mikel

Cold Steel's upcoming Tiger Claw karambit is the ONLY hawkbill style blade they have, and it does come in a fully serrated model. And CS has VERY small serrations(smaller serrations than any other company I've seen), they're more for cutting meat/flesh rather than rope and webbing. I love Cold Steel, but for what you're wanting, you're better off getting a Spyderco Tasman Salt or Harpy.
