Been adding/removing stuff from this for a while. Lots of the stuff in here I already had, some stuff I bought. Of the things I bought, I usually went the less expensive route. Just wanted to get some feedback on this.
The main pack is 33 lbs.. I figure I can remove stuff if I need to move fast and by foot, as apposed to leaving something behind off rip.

It contains:
intrenching tool (old school, pick shovel, wood) w/rope. belt
Plumb hatchet w/nail puller, w/belt
yep, more gloves
20 degree synthetic mummy bag w/belt

candles, matches, first aid kit, additional perscription meds, marker
alot more water (Eastsport bag)
steel water bottle

Originally I just kept the tools and sleeping bag loose by my main bag. I recently chose to put this stuff into it's own bag, and then added the extras to fill space.

I used to have everything is a OD duffle, but decided it stood out too much so I tried to tone everything down a bit. I still keep the duffle near by in case I need to fill it spur of the moment, perhaps non perishable food items.
Lastly, I keep a smaller, empty sack in my room to gather my EDC items and valuables on the go.

I live in an apartment, but my sister's house is less than a mile from here. My basic plan would be to meet up with her and either post up, or evacuate as needed.

Lastly, pictured in the first photo is my Mission MPK-S/Leatherman Supertool-300/Maglite LED rig. I like to keep it loose, but can attatch it easily. FYI, I've forfeited my right to bear arms, or I'd have something semi-auto, w/high capacity too. I'm currently considering a crossbow.
On a side note, I used to keep the steel bottle filled, but is rusted significantly. I need to replace it, but am not sure if it'd be safe to use/boil in, in it's current state. Any sugestions?

Any thoughts or recomendations are welcomed. Anything stand out that I'm looking over? Thanks.

first thing that poped out, have you ever done any sort of night navigation or work at night ? Ditch the maglite for a head mounted light. Princton makes a few good options. All emergency situations I have been in suffered two imeadiate problems. Light and Communication. It sounds like your in a urban enviroment which tends to mask the need for that sometimes. Lighting is one of the few things I double down on

second, the adjustable wrench next to the channel locks (both sides) is likely dead weight. Anything it can do the channel lock can most likely. Plus they suck, I hate using them. If its made in china, do yourself a favor and chuck it now. Didnt you mention a multi tool later anyways ?

third, if you clip a bunch of stuff to the outside of your bag, without a lanyard, it wont be there when you get there. (Particularly things of great need like knives)

Last, I think you would be better served with a good pack to carry more of your priority gear in one place then the multiple bag concept. While that works for a car / vehicle loadout it becomes problematic when that changes (Seems too unexpectidly). Keep the really needed items on you back, all the non-critical add ons in other bags. If your forced to make decisions based on time constraints (There always are) you can make a quick easy one.

I really dont intend on sounding like a dick but this was my and many others reality: You have the desire to collect gear for that one dark day. You do a great job collecting said gear, you even enjoy the process of collecting it. You even likely enjoy useing individual pieces of gear. But the part you, or so it seems to me, left out is moving and organizing said gear under the same conditions you would need to on said day. Your not alone, I recognize the symptoms, I fell into this trap to a extent myself. Just give it some thought

Your situation my vary

Look pretty thorough and for my urban kit, I too carry a channel lock and would tell you they are very handy to have.

I would recommend a regular backpack, but if the majority of your gear will fit it would be a good short distance alternative.

Consider adding some regular gauze pads and tape...goes a long way for most minor accidents.

The Mission MPK is a great blade:thumbup: Sorry to hear about your access to firearms; their are other options...don't under-estimate a good, stout hiking stick/staff.

Thanks for the advice fellas.

A larger back-pack type bag would definately be a good idea. Right now this one is packed solid and the seams are under a lot of stress. A larger, quality bag would allow me to organize better too. A head mounted light is also something I've been looking into.
I removed the larger crescent wrench and switched around some stuff to make it a bit more secure. -I do have duct tape and 4x4 gauze pads in there. -Both good multi-use items in my opinion. I've also been considering a set of two way radios, but haven't looked into them much yet.

Yeah, not having a gun sucks. -Hopefully it wont cost me my life or the life of those I care about if/when thing go to hell.
I haven't got to use that MPK much yet, but already feel pretty confident in it.

Thanks again.
