I was at the local Sportsman warehouse Today and notice that they had the full size Rukus on close out. When I asked about it the guy said that Benchmade has discontinued them. Sale price was $125. And they are running a special right now, no sales tax. Needless to say I got one.

This is the second time in the last month I've heard of the Rukus going for a little over $100. I'm dropping in to Sportsmans Warehouse Monday and put a stop to this once and for all. (At least, in my neck of the woods anyway) ((( :D )))

Could it be that, as beautifully beastly as the Rukus is, it didn;t go over well and they're just trying to get rid of the overhead?

Now I gotta go to Sportsmans tomorrow.. They had a sale on several Bm's about 2 weeks ago. Guy said it was on the slow moving stuff

I just placed an order last night for a Rukus 610BK and a set of the G10 Silver Twill handles. Figure it will keep my Rukus 610 w/ivory micarta handles company! Btw, I would not be surprised if the Rukus does get discontinued, although I have absolutely no information one way or the other.

That's a good price for a Rukus. Last time I checked, they were going for over $150 online.

crap there isnt a sportsmans warehouse in ohio at all...... man i hate this state.... well you guys should grab these up if you can.... its the first ive heard of it being discontinued

I wonder why Benchmade would discontinue such an awesome and popular knife?? Weird. Anyway I know when I bought mine, for some reason, it was really really hard to find the full-size version in black with a plain edge, not serrated.

Benchmade does not list it as discontinued on their site.

That makes sense. It is a big and unusual knife and it may be a hard sell outside of knife circles. So it's popular here and sells well on knife dealer websites, but it sits on the shelves at large general sporting goods stores. Eventually they would get tired of looking at them, and unload them.

Esav, you have a point. :)

But even it it is popular at the big sporting goods stores, BM might discontinue it just "cuz!"

Like they discontinued all of those wonderful M-2 steel blades.:thumbdn:

I have seen the Benchmade DC list for this year. The Rukus is not on it, the 615 or the 610. So, as far as I have seen and heard, the Rukus line should still be in production next year.
BM tends to make knives in spurts, so at times in can almost imposable to get a certain model, which could lead people think that they are DCed.

Woulden't an M2 615 be sweet!!

Went to sportsmans warehouse today and talked to the manager. They marked all the 610 rukus's and the 940 osbourne's down because they weren't selling. They will not be sold at sportsmans anymore. The 610 is not disco'd from BM.

I get newsletters from the Spokane store, but there is no option at this point to buy online. What a pity. I know I could not resist that price.

On another board people were calling other stores and having knives sent to them. You could give it a try. This is the number (509) 891-1900. I know there was a least two more. I really like this knife despite it’s size. I think a lot of people are put off by the size when they first look at it. I think I’m going to look around for a mini Rukus. If they came out with one in M2 or D2 would be cool.

Unless you have really small hands, you'd be surprised how fast a big knife gets comfortable, and how small all your old knives seem in comparison. The Military's handle is oversized even in relation to its full 4" of blade, but it is the easiest big knife to pocket or to use that I know of.

A lot of people thought the Skirmish was too big, but it has a great ergonomic handle shape too, like the Rukus. They are worth trying. It's hard when there are no knife stores around where you can do that. In the past, I've resorted to drawing a lifesize silhouette on cardboard, cutting it out, and holding it to get an idea of how well a knife would fit my hand.

I think I'm the third or so to say it's true. The full-size Rukus is red-tagged at Sportsman's Warehouse for $125. The guy said they weren't selling well and they're getting rid of them nationwide. There were two plain-edge, uncoateds and at least one black partially serrated. Man that thing is HUGE...... but sooo smooooth in its action!

Also, the BM Grip fixed blade, black partially serrated, is red-tagged for $54. They didn;t have any plain edged Grips on sale or I'd have gone home with one.
