I posted a similar question on the Knife Reviews & Testing forum earlier, and would like to solicit opinions in this forum as well.

I've found a source of a few full-sized Calypso (plain-edge), and I am thinking about picking up one. Who here owns or has owned and used the Calypso, and what are your opinions on this knife?

Please note that I am asking about the 4", VG-10 version in micarta, and not the Calypso JR.

Thanks,

Matthew

I have a serrated one and two plain edged. All three are the tightest lockbacks I own. They open smoothly with a resounding Snack!! They ride extremely deep in the pocket, weigh nothing, and are slim enuff that your pocket is still usable. They are classy and capable cutters with great steel and flatground blades. I feel ready for most any task with the serrated large and the plain Jr or the reverse.

I must concur. I have a plain edge large micarta Calypso, and I really like it. It is among the classiest Spyderco knives I own. Very tight lockup, smooth, rich looking scales and fabulous steel; flat ground. I also really like how low the knife rides because of the super high clip placement. It's a winner. Jeff/1911.

Thanks all for the opinions.

I just completed a deal with another forum member for a full-sized Calypso! Hope to find out soon what you already know!!! :)

Starfish, Be REAL careful with that Large Calypso ......They can
really bite hard!! I cut my thumb just touching the edge when I
got mine. Enjoy one of Sal's best knives, mate.

I had to carry mine today after reading all of this. After touching up the edge last night on the 204, it went through my breakfast orange this morning like, well like a really, really sharp knife.

Jeff/1911.
