Haven't done a Nessmuk style knife in about a year. I've always liked to mess with this style. I decided to go with a half guard on this one. Its got a 6" L-6 blade and a mule deer crown. The L-6 is from an old circular saw blade that I had tested.

That looks great. I like it a lot. How hard is the iron to work with? I have an idea in mind for a knife and want to use iron for the guard but having never worked with it I don't know how difficult it is.

Have you made a sheath for this yet? This looks like something you'd expect to find in an old trappers gear.

The iron is no more difficult to work than any other fitting material. I'll forge the iron flat and after that I'll cut and grind the fittings to shape. I then will heat up the bottom of the guard to get a little radius. The sheath is still in the works but not started yet.

Thanks for the reply and thanks again for sharing the pictures. I'll have to try some iron soon.

Hey Big-un,

That is a beautiful knife. I think you spent your money well on that new camera, and you apparently have figured it out.

Great Photos.

I like this large nessmuk style knife. It looks like it would make a great all round hunter/skinner/camp knife. Can't beat that.

Ray, your Nessmuk knives are the best. Most Nessmuk knives I've seen look kinda ugly and awkward, but yours have a nice flow to them and are very easy on the eyes. Great job!

Robert, Your right about the camera although I haven't quite figured it out yet. Lucky guess on this photo. No hamon to try and capture either.

Psycho, the Nessmuk wasn't meant to be pretty when it was first introduced. I really like curves and flow and the Nessmuk has both. Here's a link to my favorite: http://www.bladegallery.com/shopexd.asp?id=84338 This new one ranks way up there.

I love this one, an excellent take on the nessmuk style.

In the past I wasn't a fan of the nessmuk style, but lately I have started to really like them a lot. I might have to make on myself in the future.
