Full Tang Question???

OK gents, for all you Randall aficionado's out there I have a question. Does anyone have a pic of the tang of say a #14, 15 or 16??? I am curious if the tang is in deed a bar or does it have holes drilled in it. Just thought I would ask cause the only pics I have seen without a grip is the stick tangs. This have always interested me in the construction of blades.

Thanks in advance,
RussMo

Russ,

Hey bud, sometimes I'm slow, so please bear with...what exactly are you looking for, a side-view photo of a RMK full-tang blade blank? If so, at what stage?

Shel

I am even slower. Oh well. No holes there (except for the one they drill for the lanyard/wrist thong). Hope that answers your question.

No, I don't have a pic.

Guys,

Thanks for the response!!! Shel, yea a blank shot just before the grip goes on. I think Sam though just reinforced something I read yesterday by Captain Chris Stanaback, a gentleman I bet the two of you are flamiliar with. He said that the only hole in the tang is in fact the the wrist thong hole.
Just received my RKCC app so need to send that in:)
Thanks again,
Russ

Yes, we both know Chris well. Maybe too well. But that's another story for another day.

Having rehandled one and I am currently working on a second one, they are a solid bar of hand forged steel stock.

RussMo,

It is indeed a bar. I found photographic evidence of my first re-handle a bit ago last week. This is a photo of a #14 tang stripped down. The one from the shop will not look exactly like this, but this is there work.

As we know, Jim "Treeman" Behring does awesome re-handle work on Randalls (and other manufactures). However, I don't think I've seen him do a "full-tang" RMK either.

I was told a lot (most) of the Blaze Orange, Lime, and Jade Green G-10 full-tang RMK's out there were rehandled by the Behring's - dunno how much truth there is in that, but that's what I was told by someone that knows...

Got it. I only went by what's in his gallery on his site.
