Here's the 1st. one.
I'm not sure what to call it. I like "Iron Mistress" but that
refers more to a coffin handled bowie like in the movie.
I had the Musso knife in mind when I did the sketches.
Maybe just simply a "Full Tang Musso Bowie".

Anyway the specs. are;
13" 1095 spring steel full tang blade with 1018 fittings
welded in place.
It's 1/4" thick (3/8" at the blade catchers).
The scales are some BEAUTIFULL Black Walnut
provided by WOODMAN.

I'm undecided on a style of sheath yet.

Thanks for looking,
Mike

While I really enjoy everything that you post, I think that this is by far the nicest piece you have shown to date. Really, really nice piece - you nailed the blade shape and the fittings just seem to meld with the blade. And yes, that is some awesome walnut. I would like to put my name in the hat for any of these that you might be putting together in the future.

Thanks for the kind words.
I made 4 blanks one being a test piece.
The one ictured here will be listed for sale
once I've made a fitting sheath.
The other 2 will sit in my blank pyle for now
and pop up some time later when the urge hits
to do another.

very nice!
How did you darken the blade?

I quench in motor oil and leave a sanded finish
after filing is done.

Thanks for looking,
Mike

Got some outside pics. Not sure if I like the sheath yet.
It's 17. 15/16" OA and weighs 29.5 oz.
The blade is 12. 5/8" X 2" X 1/4" (3/8 at the catchers).
The handle is 5" long.
Not for sale yet. Soon.

Thank you.

I changed the sheath slightly making a simple beltloop that's
lashed in place with waxed nylon thread.
I had rings on the back for suspending it like a sword but didn't
like how it hung. That's why the 2 small holes are in the back.
