Hey folks i'm in a slight quandry...

I think I need at least ONE fully serrated knife for those nasty semi-sawing chores, i've decided that Spyderco is hands down the winner for this knife, since their serration design is so great... but the question is... which model?
This would be a knife for serious chores and would probably find use in my home and on what amounts to, construction-like sites, meaning it would have to be capable of tackling sawing chores through highly fibruous materials in many sizes.
So far it looks like an Endura would do well in this suit, but i'm not really as hot for the ATS-55 as I might be, and I keep hearing about how especially wonderful the VG-10 Serrations are from the Delica, but it's my personal concern that the Delica just aint big enough for the flexibility i'd want, 'sides i'd rather have it in plainedge and use it as a traveling EDC :)
I've also given serious thought to a 440V Military, but it seems a tad expensive, is it really worth the extra dough? i'm also concerned about the liner-lock...

Get the Endura. It's inexpensive enough that if you don't like it, you're not out too much. I had an old model Endura with the serrated blade that was one of my favorites but then I found a like new serrated Military.

I second the Endura. In my opinion the Endura is one of the best folders on the market. It's the most popular Spyderco model for a reason. ;) I personaly see nothing wrong with ATS-55, but there is good news. The Endura is now availalble in VG-10.

A fully serrated Endura is the economical choice. If you really want a great knife for a bit more, get a Military. Don't worry about the liner lock, mine has never, ever failed and still locks up great. Spyderco's liner locks are much better than the competition's. Either way I think you'll be satisfied.

I'll also say the Endura. It's a great knife yet if you lose it, it won't break your bank to replace it. There is nothing wrong with the ATS-55; I just think the VG-10 will be better...but the VG-10 version will have a saber flat grind instead of the saber hollow grind.

I've also found for some cardboard types, Spyderco's serrations also work for push cuts if you don't find it necessary to saw through. In fact, the only fully-serrated knives I own are Spydercos and I think it will stay that way.

A fully serrated Endura or Military is in my pocket daily. I highly recommend the Endura in VG-10.

The Endura in VG-10 will be hard to beat. Not only should it hold an edge for a very long time, but VG-10 is known for it's good stain resistance. Until recently, I wasn't a big fan of the Zytel Spydies, but my new Christmas Delica has changed my mind about this completely. They represent very good value indeed.

Cheers, Jeff/1911.

For cutting rope, you can't beat a G-10 Harpy. Well, I guess a VG-10 version would be nice:D

Jeff

I thought about a harpy/merlin and decided against because it isn't as flexible as a "normal" blade shape.

My first Spyderco was an Endura and after prucasing three other Spyderco's is still one of my favorates. Great bang for the buck.

First of all, consider that the Endura is tip-up, left/right handed, and the military is dedicated right handed tip down.

If that doesn't matter to you, just get a Military.

Enduras are good knives, but I'm betting you'd end up with a Military eventually anyway. Might as well save yourself a step.

Jim,

Unless he prefers a spine lock (lockback) design to a liner lock. If that's the case, the Police should certainly be in the running. However, the Endura is just such great value. I still prefer the Delica's size and shape though.

Jeff.
