Finished up a short term job last week in a local refinery. Had some fun. One of my brother who worked with me on it and I were just laughing about it so I thought I would tell you guys.

On these kind of jobs everybody brings a lunch and eats in crew trailer with tables and chairs. There are microwaves and people stand around taking turns at them. I have a bit of a reputation as a wild man, so. While I was getting groceries I picked up a can of corned beef and hash, then got a can of dog food with a very similar sized can. Back at the motel I carefully removed the label from the dog food. Then ripped the label off the corned beef and glued on the dog food label. Right in front of 1/2 the crew I opened up the can, dug out the contents onto a plate warmed em up and proceeded to eat up. LOL. Answered comments with lines like it all comes out of the same factory. Saving some per diem money.
Then, when it was hot and in the 90s (yes it was in the 90s in Montana in late Sept) I filled a plastic jar that mixed nuts had came in with ice from the motel. Kept it in my insulated lunch sack. Then we showed up with very well iced glasses of Pepsi. When questioned we announced there was an ice machine in the office. Had 1/2 the crew at the office begging for ice. BTW, late the next week it dropped to the teens and snowed. Montana can pull its own jokes.
There was a security fence around the plant and the gates would only open with a special proximity card. Only a few had cards and everyone else had to wait for someone with a card. My one brother, who had worked for the company a lot, had a card but, didn't tell anyone. He would hide the card in his sleeve then when a bunch of people were standing around a quitting time waiting for the gate to be opened, he walks up and says there is a loose wire in the card reader. Reaches over and starts shaking the thing and because of the card in his sleeve it opens the gate. Funny they never broke it, as sure enough they would walk up to it and start shaking the hell out of it. Never worked for them, but then my brother would always manage to shake it just right. LOL
My brothers and I were doing all the complicated stuff on the job and the boss (one of the owners of the company we were working for) was more than willing to put up with us. He did comment that it was difficult to give us enough work to keep us from mischief. He also took my brothers and I to lunch at a nearby Casino the last day and let us leave 4 hours early with pay. I'm liking this short term job deal.

So was it you or your brother who ate the dog food back at the motel (out of the corned beef can of course)? I noticed you left that part out!
