Fun edc folder

I finally got myself a small sebenza and been EDCing it for a week now and I love it; the fit and finish, tolerances are great. It's a great folder but I find it lack the fun factor of either a benchmade or Spyderco.

I've been looking at the Benchmade 940, but I was wondering if anybody has other input, maybe a Spyderco or something. Preferably something in the same size range as the small sebenza.

Thanks

Flippers are really fun. Try a ZT 0350. The assist on it is really strong, and it flies out of the handle with a very nice, loud thwack.

Kershaw R.A.M.! Not assisted and flips open as smooth as if not smoother than the PM2.

The Ram is great: the one I have, all the screws are tight and I've stripped them trying to remove one of the springs of the lock, it's put aside until the replacement screws come and I figure out how to remove them stripped screws.
I'm not a huge fan of back locks, does Spyderco produce any knives without the back lock?

Paramilitary 2 yojimbo 2 junior super leaf are compression locks. Sage 3 is a bolt lock. Manix 2 and pkal are caged ball bearing locks. Military star mate tenacious resilience persistence ambitious are liner locks. Ukpk urbn and squeak are alip joints. Lion spy domino and southard are frame locks.

Hope that helps

Ahh ok I remember your thread now! You should really check out the PM2 if you haven't already done so. I also hate back locks but the compression lock on the PM2 quickly became my favorite. It is the smoothest and easiest knife to open/close one handed that I have ever handled so far. Most any of my modern folders will open one handed easy enough but none of them can just fall closed like the compression lock allows. I love that knife and if I'm going to carry a modern folder that is usually my go to knife.

Flippers to me are the most fun knives. Waved knives are very fun as well, I happen to own both like many people. So maybe the Spyderco Domino or any of their waved knives like the Endura or Delica. I am not sure about the BM 300 flipper because of the size, but other members will have more input on that knife than me. May already be a thread on it as well.

As far as folders go, IMO, the Sebenza can't be bested. BUT an SnG comes close and is certainly a fun knife! Sebs are my yardstick knife and I found the 940 to be a tad lackluster.

^ My sebbie is my go to knife, love it.
But I just love flicking open and closing a knife. I dunno if I can afford a strider so soon :B
I was looking at a sequel as well, anybody with experience?

I have the 953 and it is a very nice gentleman folder.
The handle is very compact, almost the same size as the blade what make the knife very small even with a good blade length.
The steel is good, and it can be sharpened to make a very efficient edge.

I like it a lot, and the axis lock is very funny.

Compared to zt0350 and PM2 , the BM is like a toy for me.
As soon as I have it in hand I play to flip it out/in... It is very smooth and light.

Clearly the lightest and slimmest of all the3 (even with comparable blade length), it is only a knife, not a tool.
If you look for something to have every day in a pocket to cut small/soft things, that will be a perfect companion.

If you look for something "beefy" that will not be the right choice.

I'm leaning towards the PM2 but I'm not too sure about the size, might be a bit on the larger size for my wee hands

Axis knives are tons of fun because they are so easy to open and close fluidly with one hand.

Maybe try a Benchmade 530. Ultra light and slim, unique design and FLIES open with a flick of the thumb. It's also very reasonable at around $70.
