You've seen them before. Every grocery store clerk has one. Cheap and ubiquitous. Even I carry one once in a while.
The only thing I don't care for was the tendency to slide open in the pocket. A detente or lock shouldn't bee too difficult, right? I'd already bobbed one of these boxcutters to about three inches long. Those wire spring loaded carabiners inspired me. I didn't want to waste too much effort or money here. And I didn't have any extra springs around to spare. Closest thing I came up with was a paperclip. Worked fine. Cut a couple notches in the aluminum sliding cover, and now it locks in open and closed positions. Really simple concept that could be applied to other designs. Anyone have one of those Frosts Mora shoemaker's blades to spare?
