That a cool sort of modified wharncliffe blade. I like it. I also love your micarta.

Thanks for sharing,

Charles

He He - I thought of leaving some D2 I heat treated with that look. Prety cool huh :)

Yea, that's some neat Micarta you've go going there. Nicely shaped too. Very professional.

That's some interesting coloration you've got on that blade. It's pretty and all, but I think most folks will assume you ground after HT, overheated it and screwed it up. For this reason (assuming the HT is, in fact good), I'd polish the colors off. ----just another something to consider. :o

that is one way i worried about the look being a messed up heat but so be it i know its right
if need be i can try to refinishe the bevle with the handle on of jsut nock the dam handles off and re finish the whole blade
then again if when i put it up for sale no one wants it i ahve lots of friends around me that would like a reduced price Harner Knife

Krein finishes all his knives with the handles on. Says it gives him something to hold onto :)

If you want, you could probably get that off with a little semi-chrome.
I wouldn't discount that knife. It looks like a nice piece.
It's just that it would be a shame to turn off some buyers because of something that so strongly implies a mistake (at least to me).

Really, you don't need me to tell you it's a nice knife. The micarta is outstanding and the execution is tight.

I like it Butch. I think anyone that knows you and your abilities would know that isn't a mistake. Even though it might limit the potential buyers, I don't see that as a totally bad thing.

I understand what JCaswell is saying and it is a bit risky to do it, but, wouldn't that color pattern be extremely difficult to attain by overgrinding? It is too twistyturny.

i can see it now i ll have to document with the pictures i took just out of the kiln ahahahahah
and yes it would be veryhard to heat by grinding to make the colors wispy like that

If you're grinding too fast with a mist of water-soluble oil and a worn-out belt, you can get softer effects like that--certainly like that in the second picture, anyway.

Ask me how I know.:)

hey i am wondering about that little hook just below the tang hole...is that a bottle opener? or is it just a neat little design extra?

Just out of curiousity, how much would you ask for this knife or one like it...I think it's beautiful workmanship and an interesting shape....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................OK Then.

I was going to ask you if you would sell that one or make me one just like it.....But alas.

email was sent least i thing you should have got it
is the email in your profile up to date
i will try again

Just display that knife with a similar one that has a "normal" finish. I think a large percentage of knife buyers would realize you know what you're doing. It might strike up a conversation that leads to a different sale, who knows. I think it's worth every bit of full price. Just my $.02 :)
