Well, got back just before the storm hit, good timing I guess, but all went well. Myself, a few coworkers, and some of their friends/ sons headed out to Delle at 8 this morning. I ended up taking WAY too much and made a little hole in my ammo reserves, but we had fun. Everyone got to try what everyone else brought. I got to try out a Mosin, SKS paratrooper, mini 14, 870, Sig 556, Savage 308, some wheel guns, some glocks, some 1911s, and several ARs. I actually like how they have became so popular the last 3 years or so. Now everyone makes parts for them and have help drive the cost down after the panic/ price jacks from the new CIC getting in. Ammo is also starting to show up again on shelves. I was able to pick almost anything I wanted in Walmart without worry. I ended up taking a 22lr, 5.7, 9, 5.56, 308 and pistol AR, CX4, 1895SBL in 45-70, Benelli M4, 870P, and a bag of handguns to include the 454 Alaskan for other to try out. Many decided not to after we sent a few down range... sad since it really is fun to shoot. We ended up using some boxes with rocks in them to hold targets at various ranges from 72-225 yards, we also set up one at 450yards in a hillside to the South, The mosin, 308s Savage, and the 308AR made good work of it, until the 5.56/ 223s started peppering it. We also set up some steel chickens to shoot with pistols and the 22s. I still want another 1911, hope Springfield does a Centennial piece, a full size 454... maybe 460 since it can shoot the 454 and 45lc, and a S&W 617 10 shot, but not much more is catching my eye anymore. All in all, a GREAT day. Car got really dirty from the dust ride in, but thats life, now I get to spend a few days cleaning all of what I took. Had to use youtube to host the video of the 454 Alaskan being shot since it was over 10M, but I really like how you can see the fine talcum like dirt jump when the shot is fired.

Enjoy and hope no one minds me sahring our great outting, I was debating which forum to stick it in, this or practical tactical? Hope I chose correctly.

Wonderful pictures. I wish I could do this here. Makes a trip to the range look boring....
Thanks for sharing,

Thanks guys. I am now in Iraq since this post is about a month old... rereading all this makes me look forward to getting back home. Hope to have a few new pistols to add to the collection shortly after getting back. Speaking about adding. I just put in around a 4K purchase to Kifaru. 8man/liner/net/large stove, 20 slick/0 MOB std/long, a fwe pods, pocket, and pullouts then last a paratipi. I already have a supertarp/annex/small stove, and use it often when camping stateside, but the non sealed front door and such makes really cold windy weather a bit of a pain, but the flexibility and light weight of the supertarp is great. Also placed my order for my new chest rig from Charlie at blackstone tactical.

Thanks for bringing this thread back to life, its nice to remember the fun times I had just prior to leaving.. Its only been a month I have been here but I miss everyone and everything so much.

Thanks and will do guys.

As for the 45-70 is a SBL. I highly recommend only buying new Marlins in person so you can look them over. The first SBL I found was the one I took since there is not much wrong with it, but the GBL I had to pass up a few till I found one that was good. Problems I have noted... but may not be complete. Loose screws. Easy to fix, but sucks you need to double check all the work. Loose stocks. Again easy to fix, but why should you have to do it after spending a good deal of money on a firearm. Poor fitting stocks. Nothing you can do except for contact Marlin for a replacement stock and send in your firearm. Again, just a pain in the rear after just buying it. Its sad that they had to close the CT doors to meet goals. That like slapping history in the dam face.

Its the top lever here, still want a 357 full size and a ranch hand when they comeout... ummm 357, drool like homer over bacon.

Wow! What a great thread.

The guy in the white t shirt shoots like my son, spine arched back. I keep telling him to lean forward a bit.

It must have been great. I would have said a blast, but then I would have been punny.

I wish I had open range to shoot on. We do have a pretty good range close by. It makes for a fun day.
