My father and I are going on a canoe camping trip that he’s always wanted us to do. Our ladies and the kids are going to disney so here we go!! Id like to get us a pair of spydie salt knives for our trip and as a momento of our trip together. Neither of us are into large pocket swords and we’ll have a good fiskers hatchet with us for heavy stuff.
Any opinions from experience what would be good choices? So would be just for line, string, fishing tasks, roasting sticks. Im thinking dragon flies.
Thanks for reading any opinions welcome. Oh and don’t know if allowed but here’s a link to a trade I’m offering for a set of salt blades. https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/bm-mini-presidio-2-for-salts.1649609/. If not let me know and I’ll delete it

I'd probably lean toward a Native 5 Salt but that's just personal preference. Can't go wrong with either that of the Dfly.

Sounds like an awesome trip, have fun with your dad!

I was going to say a couple Caribbeans but no pocket swords (darn!) so I say a couple Spyderco Dragonfly 2s in H1. Won't break the bank and be super handy on those wet trips. Enjoy the trip!

The Dragonfly is awesome, but for multitasking I prefer something a bit larger.

I would go plain edge Native Salt out of the present lineup, as I really like the N5 LW to begin with.

Probably the best question to ask yourself is which knife would fit best in your lineup after the trip.

Last summer I went on a week long sailing trip...I was anxiously hoping the Native Salt would be out in time. It wasn’t, so I boight a serrated PacSalt. I like it WAY more than anticipated.

You’re probably already aware, but H1 holds a serrated edge much better than plain edge.

Have an awesome trip!

Thanks I’ll try and get some pics up of our trip afterwards and definitely some blade pics in action hopefully cleaning fish or something lol

No I wasn’t aware of that, is it a real notable difference?

I’ve never had a plain edge H1 myself, but there is a good thread about it HERE, with Sal Glesser even chiming in. Other threads can be found on Spyderco’s home forum.

The Native Salt, Caribbean, Spydiechef, and Waterway use LC200N which is, practically speaking, just as rust resistent with significantly improved straight edge retention.

Again, apologies if I’m beating a dead horse.

If money wasn't an issue I would suggest getting a couple of medium pocket swords OP. :D
I got this pic from Stuart Howe.

I have a Pacific Salt and the DF2 Salt, the Dragonfly gets much more pocket time. It is enough knife for anything I need when I'm on the water. I removed the clip from mine and added a lanyard with a beverage breaching tool.

I look at the DF and think it's too small. Do they make a Delica Salt? Maybe the wharncliffe Delica?
