I thought some of you fiddle heads might enjoy this. I included a random pic of fiddlebacks for those that were expecting some fiddleback action.

I had a camp for teens and preteens last week that focused on what I refer to as earth skills. We covered a little bit of primitive traps. One of my students who now is an intern helped some of the kids set up a trap on the sly. They were trying to get me with it. I knew something was up as everyone was watching me a little too much. They had set it up so when I picked up my backpack it would go off. Fortunately for me, the intern who set it up accidentally moved the pack looking for something later on and ended up getting himself. :D The trap had been set perfectly. I thought it was pretty funny and was impressed with the ingenuity of the trap.

And of course some fiddlebacks good for making fun traps...

That is a neato trap. Nice job. Nice collection too!

Tod, those camps you do are pretty cool. Thanks for doing them! Wish my kids could go.

Cool trap. I'm glad that arrow had a ball instead of a arrowhead. :)

Nice set of knives too.

Ingenious group of kids you had there. I know that you are proud of their accomplishment. If I would have been in your shoes, the arrow probably would have had a broadhead laced to it when I found it. But then I sometimes resort to USMC DI tactics when put in similar situations with teens and pre-teens. Note to self: Leave Paris Island in South Carolina.

Thanks guys. We had a good week. The kids all made little snap bows and we had the arrows with the nerd balls on the end. Then we put on eye protection and had some fun games of capture the flag with archers. The better bow they made the more power to shoot their buddies with. Walt, I placed a few strategic shots on some of the older kids who try to give me grief. :)

Duder- we have a small non profit that serves the local community- I will pm you the website details if you want to check it out.

I'm not local, but my kids would love to do activities like that. Looking forward to the PM.
