Hi all,
After spending some time on this particular forum, I got some sort of hawk bug.....and I love it.

Spent some time this afternoon with my first two (for now) hawks (by cold steel). All I can say: this are great wood processing tools. They perform great for the size/price. And they take a keen edge!!

Nothing fancy - compared with some of you guys, but here they are...

I really like the paint jobs.. I will pick up a frontier hawk to paint now.. It will be a fun gift to give to the noob in elk camp this year...

just wondering on this. instead of paint if you (or the the guys reading this) would brush it with food dye would it have given more of a vintage look? I think Indians used berries and such for color so would have been more like a dye then paint. Maybe not what you wanted to pursue but the idea may click for someone else.

they do look nice

Thanks guys.

Got the other day kydex pants for my hawks.
Nice fit and finish - by Dave (condahaw) on this forums.
Thought I'd share

I like the kydex sheaths, those hawks are lookin good:thumbup:

tek, do you prefer one hawk over the other? I have the Frontier hawk.

The Frontier hawk it's more efficient when processing wood due to a longer edge.
The Trail hawk is more versatile due to the hammer pole (sometimes comes in handy).
Depending on the intended use/ personal preference, you can go with one or the other. I couldn't decide, so I got both. They both perform well...for the money you can't go wrong. I don't really have a preference.

Due to the curvature on the frontier hawk blade, I was thinking that a the last inch or so doesn't really do much for chopping. It just feels weird for me to try to use the whole blade by cocking my wrist or hitting the target early in the swing. I was wondering if the trail hawk would chop 90% as effectively.
