I read about this being done on the forums before (sorry no link) but I decided to bust out some Sunburst Orange Dye powder (surprisingly difficult to get in Nor Cal???) and dye my HEST and BK14 micarta.

I was going for a brighter orange and wasn’t going to attempt pre dye color stripping. It was the concentrated powder type and I just put it in with some hot water and a bucket :D. Let them set for about 40 minutes. Every 10min or so I went in and checked on them to make sure they were getting an even soak.

They dried up in about an hour and fit fine. The color strip option would have yielded better results..... turned out a bit darker that I thought.

Buuuuuuut, I still think it looks pretty sick:thumbup:.....and it was around $2.00:eek:

nice! i used the liquid rit to dye some of my esee scales black. the others i used a black sharpie because i was lazy.

Those look good. I think I like the micarta natural, but would do that in a heartbeat if I wanted to match some other tools.

How tough is that?

Will it come off on your hands with hard use?

Looks good.
