Functional & cosmetic modifications on my 0560

Hey guys, I realize there's a compilation thread for these, but I didn't want these small mods to get overlooked amongst the sea of amazing work.

What I did was sand down the G10 scale completely flush with the steel liner. I did this mainly for my personal preference for a tighter fit & finish. This left the very toothy lockbar exposed even more pronoucedly. I never liked the agressive jimping on the lockbar. It always hurt my girlish thumbs on a one-handed close (even bit on a 2-handed close). So, I sanded the jimping teeth down to about a quarter of their original height. Right now the lockbar side protrudes about 1.5 mm further than the G10 side. I took a straight-on pic below, so you can see that the differential is minimal, but it still makes it easier to close. With the teeth smoothed down considerably, and the knife is far more comfortable to grip as well as close. I can sit & flip it endlessly without getting a sore thumb, and closing can still be done with gloves (and a wet knife) despite the smoothed surface.

The aforementioned is what I consider to be a huge functional improvement, especially since the 0560 is my EDC. While the super-toothy lockbar jimping & unaligned scale/liner would not have bugged me with occasional use, it really started to grate on me as I EDC'd the knife. The next mod I made was getting rid of the ZT logo on the clip, and bringing it to a satin/almost mirror finish instead of the bead-blasted original finish. Getting the logo imprint to be invisible took a ton of sanding, much more than I anticipated. This will be the last mod I make, since I feel like I clinched perfection for my personal taste in this knife. Thanks for checking it out.

I'm not a fan on modifying the knife to make it close easier, looks like you did a nice job though. But dam that clip looks good, I think I have to do that. ZT designed that overhanging g10 to make it harder to accidentally unlock the knife.

Glad you like that clip! I mainly didn't want the ZT logo to advertise to thieves that they could pick-pocket a really nice knife. Probably a neurotic thought on my part, but the side-effect was a finish I feel brings up the looks of the knife. As for the easier close, I see what you're saying, but to me it was worth the trade-off. Once again, check out the top pic, the lockbar side has minimal exposure & minimal chance of accidental closing.

I did the same thing on the G10 before I got a nicer scale:

I had Dan do the same thing to my Kryptoglow scale when I bought it. He dremeled that area to expose the lockbar. It unlocks much easier now, and I, personally, don't think it will unlock accidentally as my lock-up is every solid. It's made the knife a dream to use.
