We have the guidelines for fundraising for Ram. This comes from the top.

They are:

-1- No auctions for Ram.

-2- No raffles for Ram.

-3- No e-bay links for Ram.

-4- We can "sell limited run items" on the forum to support him. (added in edit - These must be pre-approved by the moderator team.)

I know this is not what most of us wanted to hear. Sorry.

Email it is then. A "Ram News" email list perhaps, with updates posted here to show how to join.

Thanks for trying, guys!

Not the best news, but as in most things in life, we'll figure out a way to make it work.

I have a feeling we'll figure out a way to make it work VERY VERY well.

If we were allowed to hold raffles, then all the other forums would have to be allowed to do the same. It could turn into a problem. Who would judge which fundraiser has merit? I support the decision of the moderators.

A good point.

I would guess a 'limited run item' is one that does not come to the attention of the administration as a problem, or one done so frequently we might as well have a storefront in LA and factory in China.

Ferguson is a good guy. I happen to know he's tired and put a lot into this. I did the Pappy thing for a limited time, but he's been with Ram's education all along. Bill has a real friend in Steve Ferguson, and we do too.

It's going to be OK, people.

As I mentioned before, there will be a Foxy Folly offered sometime in the future and the proceeds given to Ram. I suppose this falls under the limited item guideline.

To make it fairer, it will probably be offered as pick a number between 0 and ? and the one that is closest to the random number gets it for $150 - the same price as those that already prepaid.

I often forget that I'm a guest at someone else's house here. We must respect the owner's wishes, of course.

I don't think it would be inappropriate to have an Hi mailing list, perhaps at yahoogroups.com?

Personally, I'd prefer to keep stuff like this on the forum, but just because this one thing is on the level and OK doesn't mean others won't try to abuse the priviledge, or that there aren't non-obvious legal issues. :( But such is the way of the world - if there were no thieves, then we wouldn't need locks. I very much appreciate the tremendous effort that lets this forum even exist, and the respect it is given on top of that. :)
