Ran into this odd duck this past weekend (not literally - whew). The owner was curious about it and wanted some info if any of you historians have any.

Firstly, the quality of the photos stinks - only had an ancient Blackberry on me for pics - AND i've had to do some strategic blurring. This knife is marked as a with the name of a somewhat controversial organization and rather than focus on that, I've blurred out all references.

At any rate, I think this is a home made knife though the cross guard is marked "Ka-Bar" and just under that some smudge that may way be "Olean" right before the ", NY". Can anyone shed any light on this beastie?

It's hard to read but the part I've left unblurred on the port side of the blade reads "... Day September 23, 1923 Knoxville, Tenn."

Here's the other side of the blade...

It is a fake "bowie" knife, made in England, probably 1970s and later stamped on the guard as you say. These junkers show up on ebay once in a while, seen one or two at gun shows. They are similar blades as the "Wells Fargo mail knives". Another member here got burned on one recently.

If you google Ku Klux Klan knife and go to images you will see more of them, and ditto for the Wells Fargo Mail knives. All junk!!
