Funky CRKT serrations on a Stiff KISS

What seems to be the problem with the serrations on the Stiff KISS? It seems to me that they''re upside down! The blade is unused, it came out of the box looking like that. The teeth cut but they're not rippy. Thought I'd show them before I get the Dremel going.

They're reverse serrations, I think that's what they call them at least. If I remember correctly, they originated with some of Kit Carson's designs. At least I know the Outdoor Edge Magna, which was based on a Carson design, had them as well.
