I just stumbled upon an ad in Jeet Kune Do Guide about a new balisong video. It's called "Secrets of the balisong", with Steve "The blade master" Bernard.

The ad states:

"Learn a unique style of advanced balisong opening maneuvers, including flowing combinations that smoothly link each move to the next.
Steve Bernard demonstrates all the creative possibilities of the balisong from advanced to ultimate skill level with moves like the 2 1/2 reverse, the amazing triple flip, the nearly impossible double twirl-aerial spin and many more.
Secrets of the balisong will show you how to develop the artistry and skill that will take your blade art to the highest level.

-Full screen close ups with step by step explanations guide you through each move.

-Video includes 4 basic moves, 30 advanced moves.

-Plus -never before shown to the public- 5 extremely advanced openings that will challenge even the best blade masters."

Well, this is it

The ad is in the current issue of "Martial Arts presents... Jeet Kune Do"
I allmost overlooked the ad (small, in black and white and no pictures).

It's $29.95 plus $4.95 shipping & handling, and there's only this number: 1-646-244-2825

Hmmmm, $35 for a video that no one has ever talked about. I'd probably get the Jeff Imada video since it is $35 also, but the number of techniques does sound interesting.

Ya' gotta love that......

"-Plus -never before shown to the public- 5 extremely advanced openings that will challenge even the best blade masters."

LOL........But pay me $35 and you can be one of the only humans to ever see these techniques.

IMHO, Imada, Janich, and our own Protector have given out more than enough information to get everyone started on finding their own techniques and style.

I mean really...... do we want everything put out on a silver platter for us?? Isn't it actually more fun to come up with your own stuff??

Well said,Clay.

I'd rather figure out everything myself (which has always been the case) than buy some video from someone who's making it sound like he's got some really great stuff that no one else has figured out yet (chances of this being the truth are *really* slim).

There's way more than just 4 or 5 basic moves,a bunch that can be considered to be intermediate, and more than 30 advanced moves. If the guy only knows the amount on his video, then he's way behind most of us (and would probably freak if he saw some of the stuff some of us have been doing over the years).

I did have a good laugh when I read about the ad

I also had a great time reading the ad, that's why I typed the whole thing here.
I'd rather learn my moves from Clay's site, which has tons of moves and great explanations that don't make it sound like a circus act (unlike the ad, 'the amazing triple flip" etc

), and all that for free!

I haven't seen any balisong tape yet, but I wondered if this guy is just talking sh#t or if he's realy the "blademaster" he claims to be (not that I'm any good, but if you sell/claim something, make sure to check the competition).

Maybe it's the guy from a while ago on this forum who claimed to be the best balisonger around

Ha! Sounds like another guy trying to make money off of the bali-ignorant. I'd like to see how much of this video is good for strength and confidence training, instead of a pile of moves.

Although I'm feeling pretty cool knowing that I can do more manipulations than shown on the "The blade master's" video.

Blasto,I have to agree with everything on your post.

I was thinking recently of trying to remember *all* of the moves I've figured out over the years (and what we called them),and see just what the total amount of them is.This might take a while, since the old gray matter isn't what it used to be.But,I think it's worth a try.I know it's way more than what is listed as being on that guy's video (chances are the 34 mentioned are probably *all* there is on the video).
