Hey folks, I've been thinking of acquiring an AG Russell 'Funny Folder' knife, mostly because I'm intrigued by folding knives of unconventional style. If you're not familiar, here's the manufacturer's product page: http://www.agrussell.com/a-g-russell-funny-folder/p/RUShhhFF3TI/
They are, however, a bit expensive for what most would agree is a 'novelty knife', so I am also considering some cheaper alternatives... There doesn't seem to be a standardized name for this type of knife, so they're a little harder to find in general, but I found a few:
Smith and Wesson Swing Blade (discontinued, can be found but likely more $$ than the funny folder)
Boker 'Fred Perrin' Quattro
Colt CT534 Paratrooper Knife
Fury Tactical Shiver (according to amazon) or pivotShiv (according to bladeplay)
The Boker, Colt, and Fury all look more or less the same - roughly the same form factor as a pen; the S&W and Russell are more of a typical utility blade size/shape.
My question is if anyone has any experience with any of these or anything similar. I can't find much of any information on the materials in any of these knives except the Russell (ats34+Ti), and at their price point I don't expect them to be great - particularly the Colt and Fury - but as luck would have it these seem to be the most easily accessible.
Any recommendations? Thanks in advance.
